The plenary of the Congress of Mayors received the Minister of Livestock, Fernando Mattos, who made a presentation on the situation and the impact on the agricultural sector of the drought that affects the national territory and confirmed that the national government will continue to make transfers to departmental governments in order to beat up the critical situation through which it is going through.
“We are certain that the agricultural sector is going to recover and stand up to continue driving the country’s economy as it has done historically,” said Mattos.
In addition, an agreement was signed between the MGAP and Congress for articulated support with the municipalities for the cleaning of cutwaters and the purchase of seeds, bales and others.
The communal chiefs also received the Minister of National Defense, Dr. Javier García, who elaborated on the crisis derived from the water deficit and raised the possibility of making a support agreement with the Congress of Mayors in the face of the situation affecting the agricultural sector.
García said that the agreement with the Congress of Mayors, “marks to serve the country, that is, it improves the circumstances. In terms of engineering, we have very good professionals who know how to do the job very well. Many times what is missing is machinery, we have machinery that is already very battered, it has even been on peace missions”.
