Nutritionist Sara Saldarriaga in an interview with Radio Panama spoke about the advantages of consuming pork since March 15th is World Pork Day.
For Saldarriaga, pork is very good for obtaining essential minerals for the body “it can have different types of nutrients such as vitamins and minerals, it is good for everyone, it provides us with iron, it is a necessary mineral for the oxygenation of cells because through Iron forms hemoglobin and this is necessary for all stages of life, not only in children, not only in pregnant women, but also in athletes.
Regarding the fact that pork has a lot of fat, Saldarriaga explained “pork fat is a fat that is thought of as saturated fat, it definitely has to be consumed in moderation, however, it also has other types of fat that are necessary for other functions of the body.”
I also reiterate that we must support the consumption of local pork, that they go to the markets and buy the national product.
