Bolsa Família: 12,000 people will be hired to update data

The Minister of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight against Hunger, Wellington Dias, said this Friday (3) that the government will update the Bolsa Família registration, a program that was re-released yesterday (2) According to the minister, around 12,000 people will be hired to update the registration.Bolsa Família: 12,000 people will be hired to update data

Dias informed that the contractors will carry out a kind of “fine-tooth comb” to update the beneficiary data, through an active search. According to the minister, around 2.5 million people received the benefit improperly.

“Twelve thousand people will be hired throughout Brazil, who will be trained to update their registration”, he said. “Not only do we have an updated record, excluding those who do not have the right, but also including people who were in the queue, who had the right and were not assisted”, he added, in a press conference to present details about the reformulation of the program.

Bolsa Família is aimed at families in situations of economic and social vulnerability. To be qualified, they need to meet eligibility criteria, such as presenting income per capita classified as a situation of poverty or extreme poverty, have data updated in the Single Registry and not have divergent information between those declared in the registry and in other federal databases.

The minister also said that the program should cost the government about R$ 14.5 billion in March, when the new rules for granting the benefit begin to apply. The average amount paid per person will be R$ 260. There will be 24,838,887 beneficiaries, who will start receiving from March 20th.

According to the minister, no family will receive less than R$600; there will also be the creation of a minimum income per person: all members of the family, regardless of age, will be entitled to a minimum income; beneficiary families with children up to 6 years old will receive an increase of R$ 150 per child; beneficiary families with children from 7 years old and teenagers up to 18 years old will receive an additional R$50 per child or teenager; and beneficiary families with pregnant women will receive an increase of R$ 50 per pregnant woman.

To receive the benefit, families need to comply with the following considerations: prenatal monitoring for pregnant women, keeping children and adolescents in school and updating the vaccination booklet with all immunizations provided for in the National Vaccination Program of the Ministry of Health.
