The image of Jesus Nazareno from the Xalteva parish celebrated 114 years of having arrived in the Gran Sultana, which was celebrated by the Catholic and religious inhabitants of this city.
Father Luis Vallejos, priest of the parish, said during his celebratory homily that the 114th anniversary of the arrival in Granada of the venerated image of Jesus “is a symbol of faith for the religious community that sees in it an experience of divinity ».
A “special attraction of blessings” is felt, the priest said. The parish priest affirmed that the devotees feel “something very special” when they come to pray in front of Jesus Nazareno and that is why “the faithful come, calling the images miraculous.”

«114 years of presence in this temple, in this parish, is a sign that since the image arrived they liked it, it attracts them, you as parishioners feel something very special in this image as it does not happen in all images, that is why it already the Christian, the faithful, comes considering them miraculous,” the priest reiterated.
Blessed by the Nazarene
Angela Guzmán, is a Catholic parishioner from this city, who said she was happy to attend for another year the descent of the venerated image that at the beginning of this week, went out in procession through the main streets of the Xalteva neighborhood, and accompanied by hundreds of devotees .
“We are very moved and blessed by him (Jesús Nazareno) and by the Blessed Virgin Mother. He represents a lot of love for the people of Granada,” he said.
Adorned with white roses, dressed in a green suit, a crown of thorns, a cross on his back and to the sound of rockets, Jesus Nazareno was taken from his temple by the faithful to visit the streets of the neighborhood in the style of the Sacred Way.
«For us, this celebration joins with a very important one; the beginning of Lent. We are happy for our faith, which we renewed together with our church on the eve of Holy Week, an important time for us,” said another Catholic.
