Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero met with his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, on the eve of the G20 ministerial summit to be held tomorrow in New Delhi.

The Foreign Ministry explained that “Cafiero conveyed the Argentine position that coincides with many of the lines of work that India is carrying out this year, during its Presidency in the G20, especially the importance of giving a voice to the Global South, the facilitation of consensus between developed countries and developing countries, and avoid extreme positions favoring dialogue and diplomacy”.

Cafiero will participate this Thursday in the opening ceremony of the G20 Foreign Ministers Summit at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Center

Cafiero who was accompanied by the Secretary of International Economic Relations, Cecilia Todesca Bocco; the Chief of Staff of the Foreign Ministry, Luciana Tito, and The Argentine ambassador to India, Hugo Gobbi, thanked “the support expressed by Jaishankar in the framework of his visit to Argentina in August 2022 for our country to join the BRICS block and highlighted India’s support for the resumption of bilateral negotiations between Argentina and the United Kingdom in order to find a negotiated and peaceful solution to the sovereignty dispute related to the Malvinas Question”.

Cafiero will participate this Thursday in the opening ceremony of the G20 Foreign Ministers Summit at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Center (RBCC), and will intervene in the plenary whose debate will focus on multilateralism and the need for reforms, food and energy security, development cooperation, the fight against terrorism and humanitarian assistance in the face of world disasters.

Then he will be received along with the other delegations by the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi, and will attend the opening of the Raisina Dialogue, in which he already participated in the 2022 edition as part of his previous visit to India. .
