Gladys Bacarreza is the questioned judge who was denounced for the loss of almost a hundred files of his court. This Wednesday, after an extensive day of two hearings, Bacarreza was sent to the women’s prison in Obrajes for a period of four monthsalthough the judicial decision was appealed by the victims who filed the complaint.

“She has been sent to prison for four months,” declared attorney Jenny Prado in a brief telephone call. The precautionary hearing had begun at noon this Wednesday and the judge’s resolution was only known at 7:40 p.m.

Since 2015 Judge Bacarreza evades suspensions that they applied to him from the Council of the Magistracy. In February 2022, the disappearance of 92 cases whose files are no longer in the First Sentencing Court against Violence against Women, under Bacarreza, was reported. Bacarreza accused her secretary of the loss of the files.

Friday February 24 the Council of the Magistracy carried out an intervention at the Bacarreza court and this, alerted to the operation, fled its offices. Monday February 27the Police managed to capture the judge and took her to the Felcc pending her precautionary hearing that finally took place this Wednesday.

According to the explanation of the lawyer Prado, first the precautionary hearing was held and the judge did not announce the resolution of the same because a second hearing of action of freedom presented by Bacarreza’s defense was immediately installed; when the action for freedom was denied, the four-month preventive detention for the judge was recently made known.

This case is promoted by five victims of Bacarreza whose original documentation was lostthere are another 91 cases open against the judge also for the loss of their documents.
