The National Migration Service informs that, after receiving information from the Land Transit and Transportation Authority (ATTT) about the conditions of the buses, it was decided that as of today, Wednesday, March 1, the “Humanitarian Corridor” will resume for the transfer of migrants from the province of Darién to the province of Chiriquí so that they can continue their journey to the United States.
The buses will leave with the migrants at 4:00 a.m. from the San Vicente temporary immigration reception center, located in Metetí, Darién province. During the journey to Gualaca in Chiriquí, there will be ATTT checkpoints to offer migrants a more supervised and safe transfer in your transit through Panama
The Republic of Panama reiterates its respect and attention to the international commitments and agreements acquired in the field of Human Rights, specifically in relation to the “Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration”.
So far this year, 48 thousand 89 irregular migrants have entered Panamanian territory through the Darién jungle.
