Some 1,121 firearms of various calibers are destroyed this Tuesday, February 28, during the second ceremony held in 2023, at the National Police headquarters, located in the township of Ancón.
These are 1,031 revolvers, 35 pistols, 19 shotguns, 11 rifles, 07 rifles, 17 pellets and 1 nipple that have been seized in various operations nationwide.
This destruction of weapons is added to other actions carried out by the National Police in conjunction with the other security forces and the Public Ministry to guarantee peaceful coexistence and reduce crime.
The weapons are guarded by units of the National Arms Directorate and destroyed at the Weapons Destruction Center located at the National Police headquarters, complying with the stipulated security procedures.
In the current administration of President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, 33 ceremonies have been held, reaching 29,763 weapons destroyed.
The National Police continues with various preventive and operational actions to remove firearms from circulation and prevent them from being used in criminal activities.
