From the Protocol Chamber of the Bolívar Chávez square in La Guaira, the Legislative Council of the state of La Guaira (CLEG), held a special session to commemorate the
four years after the Battle of Los Puentes, which took place in the state of Táchira.
The session had as Speaker of Order Zacarías Castro, councilor and leader of the Jpsuv, who in 2019 moved from La Guaira to the state of Táchira to participate in the events that took place on February 23, on the Colombian border – Venezuelan, and who received this Thursday, the Antonio José De Sucre Order from the CLEG.
During his speech, the Order Speaker recounted his experience of what he lived in that space of struggle. “We were about 90 young people who left Caracas to defend the Homeland in the face of the threat of invasion of our country, with the excuse of the entry of humanitarian aid.”
“It was a very strong fight at the Tienditas Bridge” – he continued – “nearly 12 thousand men and women mobilized towards the border to defend the country, and the organized population supported the young people in battle.”
He also recalled the presence of Darío Vivas in the place, who encouraged them to continue and then, together with Aristóbulo Istúriz and Freddy Bernal, decided to evict the people from the space and hand them over to the Armed Forces. “It was a battle for peace, for sovereignty, and the independence of the country,” he concluded.

The activity was attended by the governor of La Guaira, José Alejandro Terán; the secretary of Political Development of the Government of La Guaira, Alexis Rumbos; deputy María Gabriela Vega, as well as leaders of the Jpsuv and youth from the region.
«Zacarias, you were willing to give your life for the defense of the homeland. For your courage, revolutionary commitment and dedication, you receive this award as a recognition of the youth of Guairean”, Terán highlighted.
The governor of the state of La Guaira, José Alejandro Terán, expressed his pride in the revolutionary youth who participated in the Battle of the Bridges, who were “willing to give their lives for the defense of the Homeland.”
Likewise, he urged Castro to write a book about the events that occurred on February 23. “We must think about the children of tomorrow, write a book, to have the necessary documentation to remember the revolutionary process,” he said.
In the words of Yubisay Córdoba, president of the CLEG, this special session was held to “remember this combative date, and exalt the rebellion of the Venezuelan people and Venezuelan youth. Not only the day of the Battle of Los Puentes in Táchira, but the days before to defend the Homeland.
