The head of nursing of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), Eusebia de Copete, provided this Thursday details of the pediatric vaccination sessions against Covid-19 for children aged 5 to 11 years.
He revealed that there is currently a percentage of vaccinated children of 14.2% and on Wednesday it was increased to about 74 thousand doses. “We now have a coverage of 81.3% in the first dose and 71.2% in the second dose”, this, in terms of vaccinated adults.
He expressed that they have a great challenge and that is to vaccinate more than half a million children throughout the country.
“We are at fixed points to continue vaccinating, we are working through circuits at the level of schools, health centers, polyclinics and head hospitals to continue advancing with chronic children. Parque Omar has played an important role with disabled children”, he commented.
The nurse indicated that in the Hotel El Panama area, in the Rubí room, the pediatric vaccine is being applied from Monday to Friday, until 6:00 p.m.
He said that we must raise awareness and continue working more on the vaccination of chronic children, “because we have a population of approximately 17,000 of them and only a little more than 5,000 children have been vaccinated.”
Regarding the behavior of Covid-19 in hospitals, he pointed out that the behavior of the Children’s Hospital, so far in the pandemic, has had more than 1,900 cases of children with the virus.
“In the ages between 10 to 14 years they have dropped a little, but it is observed that children between 1 to 4 years are suffering from Covid-19”, he sentenced.
