Customs: Sunat will streamline procedures for passengers bringing goods to Peru

Passengers who bring goods to Peru will be able to carry out customs procedures more easily, since the seeks to streamline these processes through the Welcome to Peru application.

The application or APP was made available to passengers in June of last year and allows them to fill out the “Affidavit of Baggage – DJE” and the “Affidavit of Money and/or negotiable financial instruments of Income – DJDI” from a cell phone or Tablet, before your arrival at the Jorge Chávez International Airport or at the Border Service Centers.

PROCEDURES IN THE APPLICATION

“Now the Declaration of Temporary Entry and the issuance of the Proof of Custody will be generated automatically after filling out the “Affidavit of Baggage – DJE”, using the APP Welcome to Peru, which, for greater ease, can be downloaded to a cell phone or Tablet, simplifying the entire procedure that travelers arriving in our country must carry out,” Sunat reported in a statement.

The entity highlighted that when the passenger includes in their DJE registered through the APP, assets intended for artistic, scientific, cultural, sports or educational purposes, among others, the corresponding Temporary Income Declaration will be automatically generated.

Once it is confirmed, the declaration will be sent to the e-mail declared by the traveler, leaving a record of your presentation. In this way, travelers will no longer have to manually fill out the Temporary Income Statement.

“In case the passenger has included in the DJE goods that for various reasons cannot complete the formalities for their entry into the country, the SUNAT will automatically generate the Proof of Custody, the same that will be sent to the declared email, remaining in the possession of the administration until its subsequent customs destination or return abroad, ”the entity reported.

Since it was implemented, The application has allowed more than 85% of the passengers who must present the DJE and DJDI to do so easily electronicallyreducing the attention times and the queues that were generated when carrying out the procedure in person.

The digitization of these and other processes are part of SUNAT’s digital transformation strategy, with the aim of facilitating and reducing the costs of tax and customs compliance for taxpayers and foreign trade users.
