historical record

CDRJ recorded a historic record of annual revenue when it reached, in 2021, the mark of R$ 1.050 billion, which means an increase, in nominal terms, that is, discounting inflation, of 62.1% in relation to 2020. The four ports managed by the Port Authority – Rio de Janeiro, Itaguaí, Niterói and Angra dos Reis – handled, together, 61.9 million tons, the highest volume of cargo in three years.

The CEO of Docas do Rio, Francisco Antonio de Magalhães Laranjeira, evaluated that the financial result obtained for the first time in the history of the company is due to a combination of factors.

“The extraordinary revenue in 2021 was boosted both by the increase in cargo handling, as well as by variables such as the exchange rate and the price of iron ore in the international market, which amplified the export revenues of our main company. commodity (agricultural or mineral product sold abroad)”. Laranjeira also highlighted the successful negotiations with the main commercial partners, the effective cash flow management and the lowest debt ratio in recent years.

The president of CDRJ said that the performance recorded last year highlights the trend of economic recovery, after a difficult period due to the covid-19 pandemic, while consolidating the importance of the Rio de Janeiro port complex for the country’s development. Laranjeira believes that the pace of growth should be maintained in 2022, “with the constant search for administrative and operational efficiency”.
