President Gustavo Petro in dialogue with the leaders of the Community Action Boards of DuitamaBoyacá, announced that it will assume control in what has to do with the management of residential public services in the country.
He assured that article 370 of the National Constitution establishes that it corresponds to the president to indicate the general policies of administration and control of efficiency of the residential public services and exercise through the superintendence of public services the control, inspection and surveillance of the entities that provide them.

Petro said that means it’s the President and not another entity, who by order constitutional has the power to generate the general policies of administration and efficiency control of the residential public services.
Petro pointed out that the norm argues that it is the commissions of regulation those that meet those functionsbut only in case the president decides to delegate them.

The decision comes at a time when it is known that, despite the announcements of the Government of the reduction in the price of energy ratesnine companies reported increases.

“This president made the decision not to delegate his functions to the regulatory commissions for public services, at least for a while, and then I am going to assume control of the general administration policies of public services in Colombia directly and personally.”said the president amid applause.
