In the last few hours, the Brazilian president, Luis Inácio Lula da Silva, arrived in Uruguay, the leftist leader who returns for the third time to the presidential chair of the South American giant. Between meetings with Luis Lacalle Pou and Carolina Cosse, and a visit to former President José Mujica at his farm in Rincón del Cerro, the agenda is tight and varied.
The entire Uruguayan left has celebrated Lula’s visit, but some sectors of the right are rather angry. Such is the case of List 2424 – Together for the People (JxP) of the National Party, led by the controversial militant Romina Celeste Papasso Oliverwho went out with other nationalist militants to paint in various areas of Montevideo seem to have violent messages against Lula.
In the vicinity of Avenida de las Leyes -which surrounds the Legislative Palace- they wrote: “JxP 2020 List, Romina Celeste. Lula thief, your place is prison!!”
In another nearby place they also painted, with a white background and blue letters: “Get out, Lula thief. List 2424”.
Another of the graffiti was done at the corner of 18 de Julio and Ejido, diagonal to the Montevideo City Hall, where Lula is scheduled to receive recognition from Carolina Cosse.
Not only that, but they also vandalized and tore down parades that welcomed the Brazilian president. “Go ahead, get that crap out,” is heard in the voice of a person filming a video while another removes the parade.
