Sale of used vehicles grew 34.3% at the end of 2021, according to AAP

the sale of (light and heavy) stood at 571,261 in 2021, which showed a growth of 34.32% compared to the previous year and 9.86% compared to 2019, reported the (APA).

The transfers of light vehicles used during 2021 reached 509,460 units, 35.42% above what was registered in 2020 and 8.32% more than what was registered in 2019. Similarly, that same year, 61,801 transfers of heavy vehicles were made , 25.85% and 24.47% more than in 2020 and 2019; respectively.

The behavior of vehicle transfers in 2021 is explained by various reasons, including the gradual recovery of the economy after the first and second waves of COVID-19 infections, which severely hit most sectors and deteriorated the purchasing power of families.

In this sense, after the gradual reopening of almost all economic activities and the reduction of the restrictions implemented by the Government during the State of Emergency throughout the year that has just ended, there is a recovery in the generation of income by companies, as well as the labor market, promoting a greater dynamism in the demand for the aforementioned vehicles.

According to Alberto Morisaki, manager of economic studies at the AAP, another element that has favored the increase in this type of transfer has been the greater supply and spaces (especially virtual) where these vehicles are offered.

The need to acquire transport goods that allow safe travel and maintain social distancing in the current context of the pandemic has led companies specialized in offering digital platforms for the purchase and sale of used vehicles to allocate more resources to enhance them, giving them more options. to consumers, who from the comfort of their home can have access to a whole range of characteristics of the vehicles offered, which facilitates the choice and acquisition.

For this year, Morisaki says, the dynamism of the used vehicle market is expected to continue on the right track. On the one hand, demand would continue to increase, given that it is expected that the pandemic would still force social distancing to be maintained, and therefore it would lead people to decide to acquire transport goods that meet this objective. Similarly, the rise of digital platforms and more companies venturing into this market segment would serve to continue boosting supply.
