Juan Pablo O'Dezaille: "I refuse to believe that this is a city of the right"

The Buenos Aires legislator of the Frente de Todos (FdT) Juan Pablo O’Dezaille assured that the administration of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta cannot put as an “excuse” a supposed lack of resources, in the midst of the conflict for co-participation, since the district budget He is a “billionaire” and warned that the PRO “cannot blame” previous governments because they have been in office for “16 years.”

In an interview with Télam in his office in the Legislature, where he disembarked at the end of last year and exhibits paintings by Eva Perón and Germán Abdala, O’Dezaille said that he “refuses to believe” that the City of Buenos Aires is “right-wing “and he differentiated the UCR from the macrismo -partners in the ruling Buenos Aires coalition- because that force has, in his opinion, “another vision of development”, which is not only related to “business”.

– With what expectations did you assume the bench within the block of the Frente de Todos after the resignation of Alejandro Amor?
– Buenos Aires is a beautiful city, I feel proud to be a porteño, but there is a marked injustice between the north and the south, that is why we seek to integrate the city a little more, seeing how to improve the quality of life and achieve a balance in terms of infrastructure with its own resources. The Buenos Aires budget is billionaire, therefore there are no excuses for the lack of resources, nor who to blame for previous efforts because we are in the 16th year of the PRO mandate with issues that were not resolved and could have been resolved.

– The last year of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta’s management began with questioned officials, such as the case of his Security Minister Marcelo D’Alessandro. What view do you have on the complaints?
– All this situation that is being stripped is a mafia situation and its protagonists are a large part of the federal justice system, the savings banks and part of the Buenos Aires government. It is a structure that was put together by officials and friends. From the FdT we had been denouncing, for example, the irregularities in the concession of the crane system, which was managed by Marcelo Violante, the businessman who appears exchanging chats with D’Alessandro. But, unfortunately, the minority numbers in the Legislature did not allow us to come to form commissions to control and monitor the concessions to find out where all that money is going. I also think that there is a scandalous deal.

– This year is also electoral and the succession of the current head of government will be at stake. Does the Front of All have a candidate?
– There is no defined candidate. I refuse to believe that this is a right-wing city. We propose a country project and situations of advancement of rights, but we cannot break that media fence to express some things. In this electoral process a different situation opens up for the city, after 16 years it is possible that the PRO will no longer lead the city. The radicals, although they are part of the Juntos por el Cambio (JxC) alliance, have another vision and issues could be discussed a little more rationally thinking about the development of a city and not about the development of a business.

– Are you concerned about the appearance of extreme right-wing political forces such as Javier Milei’s Libertad Avanza?
– We are very concerned, because they represent an option for a sector of young people who do not have an experience where democracy and politics solve specific situations in their lives and in the face of this disenchantment it is not being possible to repair and these figures appear. It is a challenge for the entire progressive and democratic arc.
