The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, announced through his social networks that the Cabinet Council approved the extension of the fuel subsidy that ended on January 15, now it will be extended for a month from January 16 to January 15. February 2023.
“During the Cabinet Council we approved extending for 30 more days, from January 16 to February 15, 2023, the fixed price of fuel at B/.3.25 per gallon, for 91 and 95 octane gasoline, and the diesel; a relief that contributes to the economic reactivation,” said Cortizo.
The fuel subsidy by the National Government began in August 2022 for a period of three months and several extensions have been made to it, with the last date for its completion being January 15, now with the new announcement of this subsidy. It will be until February 15.
According to the statement sent by the National Government “it seeks to continue promoting economic growth, the generation of jobs for the country to advance and guarantee that inflation in Panama remains among the lowest in the world.”
This Friday, January 13, fuel prices in Panama will rise, reported the National Secretariat of Energy when announcing that 95 octane gasoline will increase five cents, leaving a liter at one dollar and one cent. For its part, 91 octane gasoline rises four cents, which represents a cost of 0.96 cents per liter.
While low sulfur diesel will go up two cents and will cost one dollar and seven cents per liter.
