workers and workers Community Health and Action Center (CeSAC) 31 from the Flores neighborhood reported this Monday about the closure of the place due to the building risk that the facilities present and demanded from the Buenos Aires government a “response commensurate with the seriousness” of the situation,

“The doors of CeSAC will be closed indefinitely. The reason for the closure is historical building precariousness, which has worsened in recent times”, they indicated through a statement about the center located in María Janer and Agustín De Vedia.

As they specified, at the end of December a worker received an electric shock of a deteriorated wall with humidity, after which the suspension for the admission of patients was determined and they maintained the “minimum care” with services such as vaccination, pharmacy and Covid testing.

And they detailed that the building registers “electrical risk, lack of water and permanent leaks in the walls from the upper houses, making the place unsafe”for which they asked “the authorities for a response according to the seriousness of the problem so that the small room in the Illia neighborhood does not disappear.”

After the closure, Buenos Aires legislators from the Frente de Todos Berenice Ianez Y Matias Barroetaveña they visited the workers and the workers and accompanied their claim to the Government of Buenos Aires.

“The CeSAC authorities told us that if they close there are 300 patients with chronic medication, among which there are 150 patients on insulin, who will run out of medication,” said Deputy Iañez.

For his part, Barroetaveña maintained that “the interim arrangements that have been made so far are not enough. The workers and workers need a definitive solution to work and be able to provide quality care, which is why we demand an urgent response from the Government of Buenos Aires that allows the continuity of this community health center.

In November of last year, the health center also closed for two weeks after one of the workers also received an electric shock, after which provisional arrangements were made that allowed the reopening of the place.

For the legislators of the Buenos Aires opposition, “The abandonment of the CeSACs, mostly in the south of the City, constitutes a historical debt that the City Government has with the residents of the neighborhoods.”

“It is the responsibility of the authorities in charge to give clear answers about how the works will be and what their deadlines will be and to inform the community how the services currently provided by the center will be sustained during the time of the work,” they said.
