A large part of the central zone, the coast and the east of Patagonia continued this Monday with a day of intense heat with forecast maximums that, in some cases, reach 41 degrees, for which the National Meteorological Service (SMN) maintains the red alert due to extreme temperatures for large sectors of La Pampa, the province of Buenos Aires, Río Negro, Neuquén and Mendoza, while other orange and yellow warnings apply to towns in several provinces and the city of Buenos Aires.

The areas affected by the red alert are almost the entire province of La Pampa; the east of El Cuyo, General Roca, Conesa, Valcheta, and the plateau of Adolfo Alsina and San Antonio, in Río Negro; the south of the Province of Buenos Aires in Bahía Blanca, Patagones, west of Villarino, Puan and the lowlands of Coronel Pringles, Coronel Suárez, Saavedra and Tornquist.

The red level, which implies a “high to extreme health effect” and temperatures that can be “very dangerous and affect all people, even healthy ones”also extends to the departments of Confluencia, east of Añelo, east of Pehuenches and Picún Leufú, in Neuquén, and to the towns of General Alvear and the lower area of ​​San Rafael, in Mendoza.

The temperatures in these areas have been staying at high marks for several days and for today’s day maximum temperatures above 35 degrees are expected, and even above 40 in some cities such as Viedma, where the SMN forecast 41 degrees for the day. of this Monday.

On the other hand, the national body maintains orange alerts for the city of Buenos Aires, sectors of the Province of Buenos Aires, in cities such as La Plata, Bragado, Necochea and Tres Arroyos; the north of La Pampa; Juárez Celman and Río Cuarto, in Córdoba; like the coast in the center of Santa Fe and some Entre Ríos towns such as Paraná, Diamante, Villaguay, La Paz and Diamante.

In addition, the south of San Luis are under the orange level; the Malargüe mountain range, San Rafael, the east of Las Heras, La Paz, Lavalle, San Martín and Santa Rosa, in Mendoza; the center and west of Neuquén; the center-east of Chubut and northeast of Santa Cruz.

Meanwhile, for the rest of the province of Buenos Aires, the south of Entre Ríos, a large part of Santa Fe, Corrientes, Córdoba and San Luis, the southeast of Santiago del Estero, the northwest of Mendoza, and the southeast of Chubut are issued a yellow alert also for high temperatures.

In the case of the orange level, the SMN warns of a moderate to high effect on health and indicates that the temperatures can be very dangerous, especially for risk groups; while in the yellow level the effect is mild to moderate and the most affected may be boys and girls, and people over 65, with chronic diseases.

For the population of the provinces under alerts, The meteorological agency recommended maintaining hydration, not exposing yourself to high temperatures, avoiding physical activity, and wearing light and light-colored clothing.

He also asked to avoid caffeinated, alcoholic or highly sugary drinks, eat vegetables and fruits, avoid large meals and pay attention to babies, children and the elderly.
