Filled with representatives of social organizations and in the midst of the fourth wave of Covid-19 infections, the government celebrated this Saturday one year since the arrival of the first batch of vaccines on national territory, in an act in a coliseum in the capital of the country.
The Minister of Health, Jeyson Auza, led the celebration in an act in Sucre, with the presence of departmental, health authorities and representatives of sectors related to the government.
“In an act packed with social organizations and authorities from Chuquisaca, the Minister of Health and Sports, Jeyson Auza, celebrated one year since the first arrival of the batch of vaccines with Covid-19 from Russia, after the efforts and purchase made by the President Luis Arce Catacora in the midst of a high demand for them,” says a report from the Ministry of Health.
Similarly, President Luis Arce recalled the event through his Twitter account.

He specified that so far 22.5 million vials have been purchased from different laboratories, to immunize the vaccinable population in national territory.
“A year ago our first 20,000 #DoseOfHope arrived in #Bolivia, and their arrival marked the beginning of a new route in the fight against #COVID19. Today, we have already acquired more than 22.5 million vaccines for the Bolivian people (sic)”, he wrote.
Last year, on this same date, the first batch of 20,000 Sputnik-V doses from the Russian laboratory Gamaleya arrived in Bolivia; same ones that were supplied to health brigade members, doctors and frontline personnel in the fight against the virus.
