Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD) reiterated that pre-university students must return to classrooms this Tuesday the 10th, as established in the School Calendar approved by the National Council of Education (CNE).
The Directorate of Communications minerd He recalled that the School Calendar is applied after the unanimous approval of all CNE members, including the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP), which pledged that students not miss a single day of school.
“The Christmas, New Year and Epiphany holidays end on Monday the 9th, so the Ministry of Education calls on all fathers, mothers and guardians to take their children to their respective schools next Tuesday,” said MINERD.

Priorities for 2023
The Directorate of Communications of the Ministry of Education recalled that Minister Ángel Hernández recently presented the 10 main priorities of the pre-university Educational System for this 2023, which he affirmed point towards timely learning, teacher training and the strengthening of the regulatory framework that governs the system.
He said that the management headed by Minister Hernández is heading in this new year to promote the construction of more classrooms, especially for preschool, to hold a contest for professional art and technical monitors, as well as to regularize, through a credential contest, interim directors.
In addition, the Minerd will direct its efforts towards the training of directors in pedagogical leadership, the equipment of polytechnics and art high schools, and the elaboration of their own books for teaching.
Other priorities are the training of teachers in the first grades, the creation of innovation and creativity centers at the secondary level, the strengthening of the role of center directors and the supervision of the educational process.
Likewise, the minister specified that Minister Hernández works for a regulation that is in accordance with current times and guarantees student learning. In this sense, he formed a commission in charge of reviewing and modifying the General Education Law 66-97, to transform it into a piece consistent with current days, that promotes rights and social inclusion.
“This management is committed to transforming Dominican education, so that our children obtain quality learning at an early age from highly qualified teaching professionals,” he said.
