The president Dina Boluarte heads today, Sunday, January 8, an extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers after the increase in blockades on the Panamericana Sur highway in Ica.
Through its social networks, the Presidency informed that the meeting will begin at 9 in the morning. Despite the talk of a truce, the trucks with cargo are still stranded at kilometer 235 of the Panamericana Sur Highway due to demonstrations.
They demand to free the road
One of the first guilds to speak out was the Association of Agricultural Producers Guilds of Peru (Agap)which reported that the road blockade affects agricultural producers and workers, agro-export and packaging companies, SMEs, transporters and citizens.
The executive director of Agap, Gabriel Amaro, indicated that the blockade is caused by a group of approximately 30 people. “They are concentrated in four points of the Panamericana Sur and have threatened businessmen. Police evicted them peacefully on Saturday, but they returned. Here the decision of President Boluarte to put more policemen to free the road is urgently needed”, he held to Peru21.
