Guaidó accuses G3 of “nullifying the Constitution” but calls for unity for primaries

Juan Guaidó

The next few months will be essential for the preparation for the presidential elections scheduled for 2024 and the primaries to choose a unitary candidate is a priority, for which Guaidó requested that the electoral commission publish a schedule

The deputy to the National Assembly (AN) elected in 2015, Juan Guaidó, stated that the new focus of the Venezuelan opposition must focus on the primary process that the opposition must carry out to choose a unitary candidate to face Chavismo in the elections. presidential elections of 2024.

Through a message posted on social mediaGuaidó made reference to the need for all opposition parties to unite despite the fact that he criticized the leadership of Primero Justicia (PJ), Acción Democrática (AD) and Un Nuevo Tiempo (UNT) —all majority organizations in the AN— for “nullifying the constitution” by voting for the dissolution of the interim government.

“I know that it is difficult to speak of unity when the three leaders who lead the parliamentary majority made the decision to annul the Constitution, point the culprits, make concessions to Maduro and prioritize political interest rather than a common struggle of years,” he reasoned.

According to the parliamentarian, members of those parties with an “irreproachable vocation” feel “stunned” by the decision and are committed to building unity with these forces.

«I must speak to you with the truth and that is that this unity must transcend, but not based on the interests of three or five men who lead those parties. The primaries cannot be the next victim of three or five people betting on something other than the manifestation of the will of the people. They are more necessary than ever. We must listen to the people, the citizens, and act accordingly,” he stressed.

For this reason, Guaidó emphasizes that the political leadership must listen to the clamor of the population and forge unity hand in hand with the people to work towards these primaries.

“We want to work hard for these primaries, in the union, a fact that must be unavoidable and the decision must rest with the Venezuelans, to rebuild and elect the new leadership,” he insisted.

In order to concretize this primary process, the leader of Voluntad Popular asked the National Commission of Primaries of the Unitary Platform to publish a schedule that adapts to the Venezuelan reality and that allows setting a date for this event, with the goal that take place in June.

«The realization was agreed in June. Respecting the autonomy of the primary commission, we urgently request to publish the schedule adjusted to the Venezuelan reality. We must advance in the union, in the primaries to defeat the dictatorship », he stressed.
