Maricela Pérez Diloné, one of the family’s lawyers, said that it is an abuse that the Government has funds to build the project, but does not pay the legitimate owners of the land and deplored that while some of the Maldonados get wet when it rains, others are guaranteed homes on their land.
“However, that money that is deposited in the account of the successors of Rufino Maldonado for the payment of the land where these apartments are being built, the Government refuses to give it to them, a refusal that translates into abuse because an essential element for building a home is having a place to do it,” he said.
He stated that this has not been the case with the owners of the land where the border wall is built, who are paid, nor is it the same for the Maldonados as it is for the owners of the land where the Presidential Palace operates.
