Cusqueños ask for peace on their knees (PHOTOS)

For this Tuesday afternoon, the so-called ‘March for Peace’ was called, for which different groups of Peruvians took to the streets to march against the acts of violence in the demonstrations.

Thus, in Cusco a large group of citizens got together to walk the main roads dressed in white clothes and posters alluding to their claims.

“Enough of so much violence”, “We only want peace”, “Peace for our children”, and others it was read on the banners of the marchers who gathered in the Magisterio urbanization.

After going through different points, the demonstrators gathered in the Plaza Mayor of Cusco, where, in front of the Cathedral, they got on their knees to ask for calm in the strike that restarts this Wednesday in different regions.

Meanwhile different unions and unions of Cusco have agreed to resume their indefinite strike from January 4in order to demand new presidential elections this 2023, the closure of Congress, the resignation of Dina Boluarte and a new Political Constitution of Peru.

Through different platforms they have already confirmed the road closures, blockades at tourist spots and mobilizations in all provinces.

FACT:

– The PeruRail company, the main train operator on the Cusco -Ollantaytambo – Machu Picchu route, has already communicated the suspension of all its operations as of midnight on Tuesday. Thousands of locals and tourists are left without being able to travel to the world wonder.
