The government reported that next year it will acquire doses of vaccines against the human papilloma virus (HPV). The Executive’s goal is to reduce the spread of this disease in the country, which is why it plans to apply the doses from the second quarter of 2023, the Ministry of Health reported.
According to the government entity, it is contemplated to execute a preventive plan aimed at the population between the ages of 9 and 12, to prevent the spread of HPV, and thereby align with the projects of the World Health Organization (WHO). ).

The head of the Ministry’s General Directorate of Health Programs, Raúl Carbonel, quoted in a press release, explained that vaccination is expected to reduce the number of infections, the number of which he did not specify, nor the number of doses they plan to acquire. .
“HPV is the main cause of uterine cancer, a pathology that is currently one of the top ten most frequent diseases in the world,” he said.
On September 15, the Ministry of Health, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Alliance for Vaccination (GAVI) agreed on “sustainable financing” to reinforce the regular vaccination scheme for children that seeks to include the vaccine against HPV in the Venezuelan program.
