The Municipality of Viña del Mar decided to cancel the end of the year festivities, according to reports by councilors of the commune. These celebrations were budgeted at the Vergara and Reñaca Bajo Pier for an amount of $126 million, and were planned in parallel to the fireworks show.
The measure arose in an extraordinary municipal council that took place last Friday as a result of the voracious forest fire that hit the commune, being later manifested to the mayoress of Viña del Mar, Macarena Ripamonti.
In this way, from the mayor’s office it was reported that the tender that gives way to the end of the year festivities on the coastal edge of the commune would be revoked. This, in order to redirect the money in support of the families affected by the accident.
As for the fireworks, the respective tests should be carried out on Tuesday night, with which it will be decided whether to approve or reject their use for the traditional New Year’s show.
