Through the supreme resolution published No. 168-2022-DE in the official newspaper El Peruano, the government of Dina Boluarte formalized the appointment of Division General David Ojeda Parra as the new Commander General of the Army.
Ojeda Parra, who has been serving as Chief of the General Staff of the Army since December 2021, will succeed General Walter Córdova Alemán, after he submitted his resignation from office on December 6, a few hours before Pedro Castillo tried to carry out a coup.
Likewise, by means of another resolution, Nº 167-2022-DE, it was announced that Córdova Alemán requested his retirement after passing through the General Command of the Army, a request that was accepted by both President Boluarta and by Minister Alberto Otárola, who endorsed the aforementioned legal document.
