Radio Panama Writing. An exchange of opinions, held the Ombudsman and Doctors Without Borders on the passage and stay of migrants where the priority was the well-being of foreigners who transit through Panamanian territory and who arrive at the stations of Lajas Blancas and San Vicente in the province of the Darien.
The meeting was attended by Cristina Zugasti, representative of Doctors Without Borders in Panama, Anna Karina Salerno, director of Specialized Units, and Jonathan Santana, director of International Affairs of the Ombudsman’s Office.
“Since April 2021, Doctors Without Borders has maintained a presence in the province of Darién and, at the planning level, work will be carried out throughout the year 2023,” Zugasti highlighted.
For her part, the director of Specialized Units of the Ombudsman’s Office, Anna Karina Salerno, was pleased to further strengthen the link with Doctors Without Borders through its representative in Panama, Cristina Zugasti with the aim of ensuring the well-being of the migrants transiting through Panamanian soil.
The Ombudsman’s Office will maintain the link with Doctors Without Borders that assists thousands of migrants who have crossed north through Darién since 2021.
