During the night of Wednesday, an avalanche of stones, rocks and mud was recorded in Alto Bío Bío, affecting the Carabineros border outpost barracks in the town of Trapa Trapa, Bío Bío region. Also, four families were affected by the cut off of drinking water supply.
The event occurred after an electrical storm that generated a large amount of rainfall, causing the Queuco River to overflow at kilometer 52 of Route Q-61-R that connects Alto Bío Bío with the city of Los Angeles.
The climatic phenomenon caused roadblocks, as well as extensive damage to the Trapa Trapa de Carabineros border outpost barracks belonging to the Bío Bío prefecture number 20.
The provincial presidential delegate arrived at the scene, Ignatius Ficawho pointed to Radio Bio Bio that “with the overflow of the river, water mixed with mud and stones entered the Carabineros barracks, affecting the building, but no one was injured.”
Uniformed from Concepción arrived at the scene to help with the cleaning tasks of the police precinct.
From the Municipality of Alto Bío Bío they indicated that four relatives suffered problems with the supply of drinking water, for which they are already working to help them.
The provincial presidential delegate ruled out power cuts in the sector and indicated that the Global road company was clearing the roads with heavy machinery.
