The Ombudsman’s Office expresses its concern and rejects the actions of the “SMART FIT” gym chain since they constitute a violation of human rights, specifically the privacy of all its users.
As a National Human Rights Institution (INDH), we qualify this action as irresponsible, placing any type of cameras inside the bathrooms, under the pretext of preserving security; however, it is imperative to protect the legal right such as individual privacy.
Given these facts that have been disclosed on Social Networks, the Ombudsman requests the competent authorities to initiate investigations to find those responsible for these violations.
