Mothers of April demand that the Catholic Church "break the silence" in the face of Ortega's repression

The Mothers of April Association (Ama) called on the Nicaraguan Episcopal Conference (CEN) to “break the silence and ask for Enough!” to the repressive actions of the Nicaraguan regime.

The demand of the relatives of the victims of the government repression occurs before the repressive wave against the opposition and the recent accusation against Monsignor Rolando Álvarez, bishop of the Diocese of Matagalpa.

“From (the) Mothers of April Association we demand the immediate and unconditional release of Monsignor Álvarez and all political prisoners, without conditions,” demanded AMA.

They add that they will continue to raise their voices, “just as Monsignor Rolando Álvarez did (…) to demand truth and justice for our murdered relatives and all the victims of repression in Nicaragua.”

They also demanded that the State of Nicaragua put an end to the repression that “is bleeding the country dry with forced migration that claims more victims every day.
