This Thursday, Sergio Massa announced that the automotive company Volkswagen will make an investment of US$250 million to manufacture three thousand trucks and buses per year in the country.
As detailed the economy minister, Sergio Massamanufacturing will begin until 2024 in Córdoba, there four truck models and one bus model will be produced to replace imports.
“Today is a great day for us because of what it means to tell the Argentines that We are going to start manufacturing trucks and buses in Argentina with an investment of US$250 millionis an important investment in the automotive sector,” said Sergio Massa when making the announcement.
This project is part of a new investment of US$50 million, in addition to the US$250 million plans announced by the company for Argentina for the period 2022-2026.
After confirming the new project, the minister highlighted: “I want to thank Volkswagen for the decision to promote this investment for Argentina and that it will represent the production of 3,000 vehicles per year in our country.”
Likewise, he pointed out: “This is a central axis of the project of the country that we have to build, which implies replacing imports with competitive national production, but also, strengthening the productive capacity to export in the region and the world.”
The Minister of Economy He added: “The auto parts sector is showing an enormous capacity to not only supply the Argentine market, but above all things to begin to compete and export Argentine work to the world, which is what we are looking for.”
What vehicles will be produced
As confirmed this Thursday, starting in 2024, the Córdoba Industrial Center will manufacture two versions of the VW Delivery trucks, two of the VW Constellation and the Volksbus buses that were currently imported from Brazil. In addition, in Córdoba, starting this month, the high-end Ducati Scrambler 803 cc motorcycle will be produced.
