Santo Domingo.- During the year 2022 the National Institute of Student Welfare (INABIE) delivered through the School Food Program (PAE) more than 789.4 million food rations in 6,025 educational centers that are under this initiative that constitutes the most important social policy of the State for its daily and direct benefits to a sensitive population.
In this year of challenges, which coincided with the first year of Víctor Castro’s administration, the PAE maintained an execution percentage of more than 90% for the benefit of the student community that exceeds 1.8 million students, professors, and administrative staff of the schools.
In the centers where the Extended School Day (JEE) operates, which exceeds 5,000 schools, more than 178.9 million lunch rations were dispatched, which contributed to the permanence of students in the classroom from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 00 pm to be present in the teaching-learning processes, in addition to the school breakfast they religiously receive.
Just for the concept of lunch, families received savings of more than RD$2,000 million per month on the days the program operates when calculating the costs in the market.
Among solid foods, the PAE dispatched more than 129.6 million units of bread and 86.4 million cookies for a total of 216,059,441.
“Despite all the challenges we face, we are happy to say that the program has remained stable in fulfilling its mission to serve students. We are equally appreciative of the support provided by the providers that make this possible,” highlighted executive director Víctor Castro.
For next year, INABIE is committed to continuing to strengthen the Food Program by raising its nutritional quality, reinforcing food safety, and setting up more reception committees in the classrooms, involving parents and teachers in the process. food reception process by PAE suppliers, as well as increased supervision in lunch production centers, bakeries, processing plants, and warehouses.
