The German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, spoke on Monday about the executions that Iran continues to perpetrate against people who participate in the protests in defense of women’s rights, stating that “they are an attempt to intimidate the protesters »:
“These executions are a flagrant attempt to intimidate people, not for committing crimes, but simply for taking their opinions to the streets, simply for wanting to live in freedom,” the official said.
Baerbock’s statements come after Tehran carries out a public execution against a second detainee for the demonstrations.
It is worth mentioning that this Tuesday, the Iranian regime issued a new death sentence against the soccer player Amir Nasr-Azadani, who participated in the days of protests, which is why he was arrested and now sentenced.
Given this, the International Federation of Professional Soccer Associations (FIFPRO) expressed solidarity with Nasr-Azadani for the sentence and called for the “immediate” elimination of his punishment.
