The Nicaraguan regime and the People’s Republic of China celebrated the first anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations after breaking relations with Taiwan. Both delegations met in a cultural concert and affirmed that this has been a year that “marks in the history of Nicaragua.”
“We are beginning these celebrations for the first anniversary of the restoration of full relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Nicaragua with a beautiful concert dedicated to us by maestro Ramón Rodríguez, the children’s choir that has been working with the projects of student choirs from the Ministry of Education, the Rubén Darío Youth Symphony Orchestra, which has received the support of the People’s Republic of China providing them with instruments for these young people,” said the son of the presidential couple, the sanctioned Laureano Ortega Murillo, presidential adviser for the Promotion of Investments, Trade and International Cooperation.

“For us it is a very special date. It has been a year of intense work between exchanges, cooperation, solidarity at all times with Nicaragua and that has been reciprocal,” added the representative of the regime.
The ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Nicaragua, Chen Xi, thanked the realization of the show that allows uniting both cultures. “Political trust has been consolidated more and more, mutually beneficial cooperation has developed fruitfully, cultural and humanistic exchanges have developed dynamically,” he added.
For his part, the head of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, Iván Acosta, was also at the meeting and said that “the best relations have begun between two peoples, two countries, two parties such as the Sandinista National Liberation Front and the Chinese Communist Party with which a cooperation program is being worked on in all fields, where we have prioritized the early harvest agreement and the negotiation of the Free Trade Agreement, which we hope to conclude next semester.” Acosta stated that everything mentioned above opens up great opportunities for Nicaragua.
The Ortega-Murillo regime established diplomatic relations with communist China after breaking ties with Taiwan. Prior to this rupture, it benefited from the various programs and projects that the island carried out in the country. In addition, the dictatorship ordered the expulsion of the diplomatic mission in Nicaragua, expropriated its assets and handed them over to the Asian giant so that they could install the embassy in the country.
Gustavo Porras, president of the National Assembly, expressed that “we really feel that it has been a brotherhood and rapprochement of a lifetime. It is to strengthen the links between two revolutions that seek prosperity, peace and the path of solidarity ».
