The Secretary of Human Rights called a press conference for this Saturday in view of “the serious institutional situation that the country is going through”, after the sentence received by Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, and on the occasion of the date on which the International Human Rights Day and Day for the Restoration of Democracy in Argentina.
The press conference will be held from 10:30 am in front of the Museo Sitio de Memoria of the former ESMA, located at Avenida Del Libertador 8151, the secretariat reported today through a statement.
The meeting will feature presence of the main referents of Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo, Mothers of Plaza de Mayo Founding Line, Relatives of the Disappeared and Detained for Political Reasons, among other organizations
From the Secretariat they advanced to Télam that “a document is being prepared”, together with the agencieswhich will be read that day and reference will be made to “the judicial persecution of Cristina”, among other topics.
“In a flagship country for human rights, with active policies of memory, truth and justice, with more than a thousand convicted genocides, with 130 restituted grandchildren and almost 40 years of democracy, human rights organizations, together with the National Human Rights Secretariat, called a press conference to denounce the serious institutional situation that the country is going through”they reported in a statement from the body directed by Horacio Pietragalla Corti.
Yesterday, Federal Oral Court No. 2 sentenced Cristina Fernández de Kirchner to 6 years in prison and lifelong special disqualification from holding public office for the crime of fraudulent administration to the detriment of public administration.
From the Secretariat of Human Rights they assured in a document that failure it’s a “curtailment of the political rights” of the vice presidentthat constitutes “the maximum realization of lawfare in our country“, and they calledinternational organizations a “conduct exhaustive scrutiny into these irregular judicial processes”.
Furthermore, they noted that “This sentence is inseparable from the upcoming electoral process and will conclude with the 2023 presidential elections.”
