Argentina meets the forecasts and advances to the quarterfinals eliminating Australia

The Argentina team defeated Australia two goals to one to advance to the quarterfinals of the Qatar 2022 World Cup with a good performance by Messi who scored a goal in his thousandth match as a professional.

In a first half where the control of the ball belonged to the Argentines, the goal was a matter of time since Australia only managed to play defensively and for more than half an hour they maintained the tie without goals, until Messi with a left-footed shot inside the small area marked the first of the game.

In the second half, the high pressure of the Argentines paid off when the Australian defense and its goalkeeper could not clear the ball and Julián Álvarez deposited the gift in the nets for the 2-0 score. After the score, Argentina dominated the times of the match without leave many options to Australia, however, in a shot that seemed not to be very dangerous, the ball hit an Argentine defender, displacing the goalkeeper and the ball ended up inside the net for the 2-1 discount, the final minutes were tense for the Argentine fans but Australia could not find the equalizing goal, Argentina took the win and the ticket to the quarterfinals.

Argentina will face the Netherlands in the quarterfinals next Friday, December 9
