AN rejects attempt to ignore Lula's victory in Brazil

This Tuesday, the National Assembly approved an agreement rejecting the silence of the acting president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, who has not yet recognized his defeat against Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and the events underway against the recent electoral victory of the candidate of the Workers’ Party.

In the same agreement, the Venezuelan parliament supports and congratulates the people of Brazil and its president-elect Lula da Silvafor the victory on Sunday, October 30 in the second electoral round.

hegemonic power

After announcing the approval of the agreement, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, expressed that fascism should not be underestimated, “because sometimes one thinks that since fascism is so barbaric, amoral and criminal, it is easy to defeat it. It turns out that no, behind it is the hegemonic power».

He warned that although a favorable result has been given to Lula, one must be alert to the actions of fascism that seek to end democracy itself.

“It is a splendid victory for Latin America, but a warning that when the right establishes itself in the continent, it continues to attack and attack the adversary without consideration,” he stressed.

He congratulated the people of Brazil for their election. In this sense, he said that it is a people that knows of “military dictatorships, torture, disappearances, human rights violations,” and that they also knew during the previous Lula governments, “the rebirth of a true democracy that brought thousands out of poverty.

cornered fascism

For his part, parliamentarian Roy Daza questioned the fact that Bolsonaro has not spoken out to recognize Lula da Silva’s victory.

He stressed that it was not a normal election, one candidate against another, and considered a great achievement the fact that Lula has overcome the infamy, the injustice of some Thursdays allies of Bolsonaro, the fake news, the violence and the media outrage against the popular forces that managed to reorganize.

In his opinion, the Brazilian Workers’ Party did what it had to do, did not lose heart for a moment and remained in unity.

He also pointed out that Lula’s victory is a victory for Latin America.

In this regard, he said that Lula’s victory has repercussions in the world, in all the peoples of the world, “because this fact corners fascism.”

The people of Venezuela also won

Deputy Luis Eduardo Martínez spoke out to ensure that with the electoral result in Brazil, the people of Venezuela also won.

Martínez, who affirmed that “it is very convenient for Venezuela that Lula be president,” recalled that with Bolsonaro the last of the members of the Lima cartel is leaving.

Likewise, he considered it appropriate not to waste time to relaunch relations between Brazil and Venezuela.

Regarding Bolsonaro’s silence and the actions against Lula’s electoral victory, he said “today more than yesterday the Brazilian people need the solidarity of the Venezuelan people.”

Coup d’état underway

Saúl Ortega, for his part, pointed out that Lula’s victory “takes up the legacy and the dream of a united Latin America, an America building itself as a great homeland and with an agenda on the international stage.”

“We have never had the possibilities of today, from Mexico to Patagonia, from the Pacific to the Atlantic,” he said.

“Today the possibilities are definitely given,” added Ortega.

He also pointed out that “there is a terrible situation in Brazil right now. There is a coup d’état underway.”

He commented that there is a kind of guarimbas installed on the roads, which he described as “a very dangerous move by Bolsonaro”, because it can lead to a terrible confrontation in the streets of Brazil, where the forces that accompany Lula are also present.

“It is very dangerous to take that path of not knowing the results.”

“The National Assembly must pronounce itself against the intentions of a coup d’état and that the democratic result of President Lula be respected,” Ortega added.
