He assured that it was possible to maintain an icon of the department that, if it was lost, “an important leg” would be lost.
He stated that no one imagined this situation, while highlighting the speed with which they acted and the importance of being able to say today that the bridge “was saved.”
He explained that future maintenance work and the final diagnosis are now beginning, something that could not be done by the technicians due to the imminent risk that existed and the state of the infrastructure, something that will now begin to be specified, as well as in diagnostic work and definitive recovery of the bridge.
With the additional works that will be carried out in November, there is “certainty” that the season will be reached by circulating light vehicles and tourist buses, but not heavy traffic, Antía announced.
He stressed that in addition to 24-hour inspectors, the installation of technology for speed and weight control is being completed.
He also announced that work will be done to build a new bridge, to ensure the passage of heavy cargo.
In this sense, Enrique Antía revealed that the objective is to hire a consultant to define where to do it and what kind of bridge to build to connect the heavy load with the dynamism that this area of the department has.
“We have to think of a new bridge in the most suitable place and another government will come to face it as part of the necessary development, because it doesn’t give us the leather now,” he concluded.
