Panama tries to find out if those who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 have had sequelae, for this they will investigate, through the Inter-institutional project called “Safety of Covid-19 Vaccines applied in Panama”, if any patient has presented adverse reactions.
This observational study will monitor the adverse events that may occur from the day of the application of the first dose.
In this way, the safety of the vaccines against COVID-19 applied in Panama can be analyzed through a surveillance process, emphasis will be placed on the group of people from 6 months to 5 years of age, as it is the group that begins the vaccination process in this month. October 2022.
This study is carried out in an inter-institutional manner through the Center for Research and Information on Medicines and Toxics, the University of Panama, the Ministry of Health, the Social Security Fund, the Punta Pacifica Hospital, the Santo Tomás Hospital and the Senacyt; among others.
The objective of this study is to analyze the safety of the Covid-19 vaccines that are applied to the Panamanian population in the vaccination plan, through an active pharmacovigilance process using supervision or monitoring.
In addition, it seeks to describe factors associated with the appearance of adverse reactions to vaccines. With this plan, the authorities will be able to include known adverse reactions and those detected through this study.
