Deputy Schalper (RN) is against the bill to pardon the prisoners of the outbreak: "It does not proceed here because there is no consummated process"

The secretary general of National Renovation (RN), Diego Schalper, referred to the bill that seeks to pardon the so-called “prisoners of the revolt.”

In conversation with Cooperative Radio, the parliamentarian was against the initiative that is in the Senate and that the President-elect, Gabriel boric, has insisted that the process be accelerated.

“Bill of pardon to people with pending processes, of course not. The pardons are applied against people with consummated processes, something that does not happen here,” said the deputy.

In addition, the representative of the 15th District, O’Higgins region, indicated that the legal defenses of the people who are in preventive detention must file the corresponding resources (amparo) to question the precautionary measure.

“Pretending to pardon people who have committed crime, many of them in repeated cases, for a political claim does not seem to me and our political sector is not going to support it,” he added.

It should be noted that during the session, the Chilean Gendarmerie delivered to the president of the Senate, Ximena Rincon (DC), a report on the people who are in preventive detention for crimes related to the social outbreak of October 2019. The document indicates that there are 144 detainees who are under this precautionary measure and that 80% have no antecedents.
