The national leader of National Action Party (PAN), Marko Cortés, called on the legislators of his party and of other opposition parties in the state Congresses to vote against the constitutional reform that extends to 2028 the participation of the Army in public security taskssince he argued that this norm will prolong the situation of insecurity and violence that the country already suffers.
“The national leadership and the state leaders of National Action call on our local legislators, as well as other political parties, who are part of the true opposition, to vote against this reform that extends the failed security strategy and militarizes the National Guard.
“Do not allow the failed security strategy and the growing militarization of the country to be extended, which violates the Constitution, exceeds the powers of the Army and goes against the mandate of thousands of Mexicans who do not agree with it,” said Cortés Mendoza. .
The PAN leader recognized the PAN legislators and some of the opposition who yesterday in the Chamber of Deputies gave a battle with arguments to go against the so-called military reform promoted by the PRI and Morena, as well as by the PT and PVEM.
“Acción Nacional demonstrated its congruence, consistency and love for Mexico, unlike the morenista deputies and the majority of PRI deputies, who by converting the National Guard in military and not civilian as mandated by the Constitution, they will only cause the regression of Mexico to a dictatorship just like the one that existed in PRI times, “said Cortés Mendoza.
He urged the legislators of his party in the state Congresses to “prepare to protect the country”, as he said that “Mexico is experiencing one of the worst escalations of violence; Just last week, more than 20 people were murdered in San Miguel Totolapan, Guerrero, and to date there are dozens of murders related to organized crime.”
“Only dictatorships have military police, democracies have civilian police. López Obrador promised not to militarize the country and is doing the opposite, even for that reason close collaborators, but not in tune with this strategy, they are leaving him alone, ”he explained.
He considered a risk for democracy that there is no national civil police, as he said that in addition to exposing elements of the Army and putting them to act in tasks that do not correspond to them, will wear them down physically.
Finally, Cortés Mendoza urged opposition legislators to start a campaign so that society is informed about an electoral reform proposed by Morena and the president. Andres Manuel Lopez Obradorwhich, he said, weakens democracy and electoral bodies, in order to give more power to a single man.
