According to the Maduro administration, the renewal resolution aims to “encourage and justify” the actions of the opposition sectors of “attacking the stability of the country”
After the United Nations Human Rights Council approved the five-year renewal of the Fact-Finding Mission on Venezuelathe government of Nicolás Maduro warned to take possible political and diplomatic measures against the “interfering” measure.
“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reserves the pertinent political and diplomatic measures in the face of the claims of those who promote this mechanism against the sovereignty and self-determination of the Venezuelan people, which violates the Charter of the United Nations,” indicates a statement published by the Chavista government.
The government letter is emphatic in expressing Chavismo’s rejection of the decision to renew the Determination Mission, considering it a “hostile and interventionist monitoring mechanism.”
According to the Maduro administration, the renewal resolution aims to “encourage and justify” the actions of the country’s national and international opposition sectors, under the slogan of “altering the peace” of the country and giving an open letter to the violation of human rights in the country, since the thesis of the Government maintains that the opposition tries to destabilize the country and promote the imposition of sanctions.
In this sense, Chavismo maintains that this decision “violates the Charter of the United Nations, the pertinent resolutions of the General Assembly and the institutional construction package of the Human Rights Council, among other relevant instruments.”
Finally, they affirm that they will maintain their cooperation with the United Nations system and with all the instances that originate from this organization to defend human rights, despite the fact that they have also rejected the reports published by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner United for Human Rights.
“Venezuela will continue to cooperate with the Human Rights Council, based on strict adherence to the principles of objectivity, non-selectivity, non-politicization, impartiality, and constructive dialogue in the treatment of human rights issues,” they stress.
