The National Guild Council (CGN) rejected the attack on a truck carrying members of the Mobile Police Anti-Riot Squad (Esmad) and that left 13 injured.
The incident occurred on Friday, January 7, at night, in the city of Cali.

“The CGN ratifies the unrestricted support for the country’s institutional framework and calls for the facts to be quickly clarified and those responsible to be sentenced as soon as possible“reported the guild.

“We inform that at 9:55 pm on January 7, our units carried out action against the Esmad of the Police (…) in the Puerto Resistencia sector, in Cali“reads a statement released by that guerrilla on a rebel propaganda website.

In a first balance, President Iván Duque reported 11 soldiers injured in the attack with explosives, but the number rose overnight.
The charge was detonated when an Esmad vehicle passed by one of the main lights of the massive protests anti-government of the first semester of 2021, according to local authorities.
Two wounded are in “intermediate care“.

The president, who will hand over power in August, assures that the leftist government of Venezuela gives refuge leaders of the ELN and other Colombian armed groups in their territory.

Recognized as the last guerrilla in Colombia after the demobilization of the Farc, the Guevarista organization has a foot force of about 2,500 rebels, according to the independent study center Indepaz.
Between April and June 2021, hundreds of thousands of protesters took to the streets of the country in rejection of the Tax hike proposed by the Duque government to alleviate the debacle of the pandemic.
The days were mostly peaceful, although there were road blockades, destruction and clashes with the public force that, according to the Ombudsman’s Office, left almost 60 civilians and two uniformed dead.
Most of the deaths occurred in Cali, the third most populous city in the country.
