MIAMI, United States. — Rafael del Pino, former general of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba (FAR), called on the Cuban military to exercise the right of rebellion against the power of the “mafia oligarchy” that governs the destinies of the Island.
In a video Disseminated on social networks by the Cuban Conflict Observatory (OCC), del Pino indicated that both the FAR and the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) must position themselves “next to the humble people who today suffer and bleed to death.”
“That mafia oligarchy, grouped around GAESA, has gradually disregarded the rights and well-being of the population. The FAR, the MININT and the people have the duty to exercise the right of rebellion against those who have put power at their exclusive service,” denounced the former Cuban military officer.
According to del Pino, “the duty of the FAR and the MININT is to protect national security and the sovereignty of the people against this scourge of parasites that has destroyed the country.” In that sense, he asked the island’s military “withdraw operational support for any repressive order against citizens, whoever it comes from.”
“Whoever gives that order and those who obey it must be arrested for treason against the country. Those who now protect the people will be remembered as patriots by future generations,” added the former soldier, recognized as one of the best military aviation officers on the island until 1987.
General Rafael del Pino participated in the guerrilla struggle against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista and was a banner of the Castro armed forces until 1986.
On May 28, 1987, del Pino left Cuba with his entire family in a small twin-engine Cessna 402 that took him to Key West, United States. Since then, he remains in exile.
