This Friday, in its Official Gazette, the AFIP (Federal Administration of Public Revenues) published a resolution in which a modification of the criteria for online purchases abroad in dollars is established.
As detailed the organismthere will be a change in the regulations for the system of purchases abroad, since the AFIP reduced the maximum limit for importing imported products into the country.
In this way, the AFIP decided to reduce from US$3,000 to US$1,000 the maximum value of products received from abroad through private postal services (couriers).
The new criteria apply to shipments that enter through a courier service “destined for human or legal persons, made up of up to three units of the same kind and that do not presume commercial purpose, where the total weight of the shipment is up to 50 kg and the FOB value of the merchandise consigned to the same recipient does not exceed US dollars (US$1,000.-) per flight”.
In addition, it was established that “the FOB value of the merchandise to be exported does not exceed US dollars (US$3,000.-) for each sender of the shipment.” The agency explained that the measure responds to the “current economic scenario and in order to avoid the distortion of the regime.”
However, they did not make changes to the weight and unit limits per shipment, and the reduction in the cap applies only to the value of the products; so that the maximum number of shipments per person per year will remain at five purchases.
Why was the shipping cap changed?
The tax body He explained that it was decided to modify the criteria because “irregularities were detected which led to infraction and/or criminal complaints.” For this reason, they adopted “measures aimed at promoting the protection of fiscal income.”
In this way, you can still buy groceries, clothing, toys, technological products, decorative objects, etc., as long as it is merchandise for personal and non-commercial use.
