Nicaragua and Syria signed a mutual visa exemption agreement for diplomatic, official, special and service passports, the Government of the Central American country reported on Thursday.
The agreement was signed by the Nicaraguan Foreign Minister, Denis Moncada, with his Syrian counterpart, Faisal al-Mekdad, during a meeting held in New York, within the framework of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, the diplomats discussed issues of cooperation between the two countries, exchange of experiences and mutual challenges, according to official information.

The authorities of Nicaragua and Syria are characterized by their rejection of the United States and other Western countries, as well as their support for the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
Last January, Nicaragua signed a similar agreement with China, a country with which it reestablished relations in December 2021 after sustaining them for 31 years with Taiwan, considered by the Asian giant to be a rebellious island.
