New actors in the Cuban economy, such as micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)as well as Cubans residing abroad will participate, together with national and foreign companies, in the International Transport and Logistics Fair that will take place next week.
The event, which will take place at the Pabexpo fairgrounds in Havana, between September 27 and 29, seeks to consolidate existing projects and promote new business and investment opportunities in the sector, as reported this Wednesday at a press conference. So far, the presence of more than 70 exhibitors and some thirty professional participants has been confirmed, both from Cuba and from a dozen nations, including the United States, Spain, Italy, Belgium, China, Mexico and Venezuela, detailed the directive.
Regarding the presence of Cubans residing abroad, Alfonso Acosta did not offer a figure of how many will be at the event, but pointed out that the participants “are fundamentally associated with the part of transportation logistics, and many are with advanced businesses in the issue of parcels and logistics in Cuba, while some contracts must be finalized during the fair to expand this participation”.
“Others have expressed their interest in participating and because of that interest they will have the facility to exchange with the different transport sectors, and to the extent that they progress in their conversations, some of which are already being worked on, new contracts may or may not be prosecuted. in this direction”, he added in response to a question from OnCuba.

The deputy minister preferred not to comment specifically on any of these projects in order for them to “mature”, but reaffirmed that her ministry is “open to doing business with Cubans residing abroad, and assured that” everything that is in line with the interests of both parties, we are going to favor it“.
In addition, he recalled that the call for the fair is still open until the very beginning of the event and affirmed that the organizers are interested in “that all who wish to come”.
In the case of MSMEs, Alfonso Acosta commented that “seven are with a strong presentation” in the exhibition segment, with the intention of showing their work and promoting new businesses.
“We have opened the door to both the state and non-state sectors. All economic actors have equal conditions to participate in the fair”, he pointed out.
The International Transport and Logistics Fair seeks to “invigorate the sustainable development” of land, sea and air transport in the country, and in particular aspires to promote “sustainable mobility”, foreign investment and the modernization of the sector, as well as attract financing and facilitating the supply of spare parts.
The fair’s program includes conferences, panels, business rounds and the presentation of the portfolio of projects for international cooperation in the sector. In addition, the signing of new agreements and contracts with foreign entities and companies is expected.
