As part of the 2030 Agenda Localization strategy, the United Nations Program (UNDP)in alliance with government entities, the local government and the active forces of Barahona, accompanied dozens of homes and MSMEs in that province to achieve their recovery after the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. covid-19.
“Here in Barahona we are committed to a strategy focused on the recovery of livelihoods and the creation of income-generating opportunities for households and MSMEs, which would respond to the drop in income and the deterioration of living conditions caused by the pandemic, especially in women and young people, in the most affected productive sectors, as well as in those most vulnerable”, indicated Inka Mattila, resident representative of the UNDP at the results presentation event.

More than 1,400 people benefited directly and more than 1,000 people indirectly through the province’s recovery strategy, supported in the province by UNDP, under the leadership of government entities, local government, civil society organizations and the living forces of the province.
The strategy was implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development and the Ministry of Tourism.
